Chase Bank announced that it will be closing all of its 4,700 locations for 24 straight hours on Monday in observance of an often overlooked federal holiday
And Chase Bank won't be the only financial powerhouse to shutter its locations for the day — all other banks in America, including major chains like Wells Fargo, Citi Bank and many more, will also be closed.
Chase Bank customers will still be able to access online banking systems, however, as well as ATMs, but they won't be able to conduct business at the bank's 4,700 physical locations as the holiday is observed.
With the company's digital banking platform, you can still pay bills, transfer funds and make simple transactions as well as check your balance — but if you need to withdraw cash, you'll have to visit an ATM instead of a teller. And any other banking business will have to wait until Tuesday, since the banking chain won't be open.
That applies to all other chains, too — banks are one of several entities that observe federal holidays, with the others being public school systems in most cases and government services, including the Post Office. The stock market will also be closed.
Restaurants, grocery stores and all other businesses will remain open, however, unless a specific location opted to give its employees the day off.
Other errands, including those that might require a bank teller, should have already been completed, however, or will have to wait until Tuesday, when everything will reopen as normal.
Transactions might also take longer to process on Monday, including transfers, check deposits and other banking actions — many of them might not go through properly until the following business day, which would be Tuesday.
